Join Our Team: SAMRU West Gate Blends Staff (Part-Time)

Blends is our current campus smoothie hub, dedicated to serving up delicious, fresh, and hand-crafted smoothies to the MRU community. In this role, you will be the face of the outlet - blending up custom orders, keeping the ingredients fresh, and bringing positive energy to every shift.

Position Details

Status: Part-time

Wage: $15.50/hour + a share of the West Gate tip pool

Successful candidates will also receive comprehensive training on commercial blending equipment and safety protocols.

Term: August 2026 – April 30, 2027
Closed during the MRU winter break.

Operating Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am-6pm, Friday 8am-4pm

Preference will be given to candidates whose availability best aligns with our operational hours.

Key Responsibilities

Smoothie Bar Operations

- Blend & Serve: Prepare and serve high-quality smoothies and specialty items according to recipe specifications and portion standards.
- POS & Cash Handling: Greet customers, take orders efficiently using our POS system, handle transactions, and deliver drinks in a fast, friendly manner.
- Prep & Freshness: Wash, cut, and portion fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients. Ensure everything is properly labeled and stored using "first-in, first-out" (FIFO) standards.
- Keep it Sparkling: Maintain a clean and sanitized workspace. This includes washing blenders, prep tools, countertops, and customer areas throughout the day.
- Waste & Inventory Control: Minimize product waste,



keep accurate records of any spillage, and work with the Food and Beverage Manager to keep ingredients well-stocked.
- Equipment Care: Safely operate and clean equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.

Customer Experience & Safety

- Deliver Great Service: Provide friendly, personalized, and efficient service to keep the campus community energized and happy.
- Ensure Food Safety: Strictly adhere to food safety guidelines, allergy awareness protocols, and SAMRU health standards.
- Problem Solve: Handle routine customer feedback with a positive attitude, escalating larger issues to management when necessary.

Who We’re Looking For

- Experience in a fast-paced customer service environment (food service or retail).
- Ability to work quickly, multitask and stay organized during peak, high-volume campus rush hours.
- Great attention to detail, especially regarding hygiene, food safety, and recipe consistency.
- Reliable, independent work ethic - you are comfortable managing the counter and keeping things moving.
- A friendly, upbeat, and collaborative attitude.
