Climber-Bucket Operator / Driver

Burton Tree Service is a professional, owner-operated arborist business providing secure, well-planned tree work throughout the North Okanagan and Shuswap.

We’re looking for one dependable, capable crew member who can bring real field value and take on a stronger role within the operation. This position suits someone with useful experience who is ready to contribute beyond entry-level support.

The Role

You’ll work directly with the owner/operator, supporting and helping run field operations and production.

Work may include:

- Ground leadership on removals and pruning
- Tree climbing and/or bucket work
- Rigging and rope systems
- Driving trucks and towing equipment
- Chipper operation and jobsite workflow
- Skidsteer operation
- Equipment handling and basic maintenance
- Photo documentation of work

This is a higher-responsibility role with room to grow into greater independence over time.

What You Bring

Some combination of:

- Tree work or climbing experience
- Bucket / aerial lift experience
- Strong ground / rigging ability
- Truck and trailer confidence
- Equipment operation experience

You don’t need to be a fully independent climber, but you must be capable of contributing to real production work.

Hours & Seasonality

- Part-time to start, with potential to grow
- Typically 8–32 hours/week in season
- Weather-dependent, seasonal work
- 4-hour minimum when scheduled

Best suited to someone comfortable with variable scheduling and looking to build a stronger role over time.

Pay

$30–$38/hour based on real capability

Pay increases with reliability, production,



and responsibility.

Requirements

- Valid driver’s licence + abstract
- Confident driving trucks and backing trailers
- Basic First Aid (or willing to obtain)
- Physically capable of outdoor work
- Reliable attendance and communication

Assets

- Climbing or bucket experience
- Air brakes / trailer experience
- Chainsaw proficiency
- Forestry / utility / trade background
- Rigging / equipment familiarity
- Mechanical aptitude
- Any of the following qualifications: CUA or CAT, ISA certified, WDTA certified, BC certified faller or HEBC falling endorsement

This is a small, owner-operated business with a straightforward, low-drama work environment.

Scheduling can vary, so this role suits someone who values flexibility and can handle seasonal work while still showing up reliably when scheduled.
