JOB SUMMARY

Sun Gro Horticulture is seeking a passionate, meticulous, and self-driven Health and Safety Coordinator to implement, monitor, and continuously improve workplace health and safety practices at our Plant. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will play a key role in accident prevention, regulatory compliance, and the promotion of a strong, proactive safety culture.

Elma, Manitoba

WHAT YOU WILL DO?

- Implement and maintain health and safety prevention programs; the resource for all HS&E; throughout the site.
- Keep all health and safety management system documentation up to date.
- Lead health and safety meetings, train teams, and raise employee awareness of best practices.
- Participate in the investigation of incidents/accidents and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with provincial/federal health and safety laws and regulations, as well as internal company standards.




- Work closely with management to integrate health and safety into all daily operations and to implement health and safety plans.
- Maintain accurate health and safety documentation and produce required reports.
- Assist in monitoring the IMS system (Intelex) entries, and work with management in managing and escalating incident submissions.
- Act as a resource person during internal and external audits.
- Manage workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work processes in collaboration with the company’s human resources department.

REQUIREMENTS

- Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 1-3 years in a similar role, ideally in an industrial, agricultural, or manufacturing setting, is an asset.
- Positive knowledge of health and safety laws and regulations is an asset.
- Strong communication skills including experience in facilitation, training, giving presentations and writing reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Valid driver’s license required.
