Canada’s leading private-sector union, the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW Canada), is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join its Accounting Team.
The successful applicant will work alongside with the Account Team and interact with all Departments. The successful applicant will be a detail-oriented and organized individual with strong numerical and communication skills, capable of handling multiple tasks. Key functions will include processing invoices and expense claims, verifying and reconciling transactions, assisting with attendance data, and maintaining the expense and personnel systems.
Primary responsibilities:
- Assist with day-to-day accounting tasks including data entry and processing transactions. Utilize accounting software.
- Record and manage employee attendance data; generate related reports as needed.
- Monitor and update employee attendance files and track leave entitlements.
- Review, verify, and process employee expense reports to ensure compliance with company policies; follow up on discrepancies as needed.
- Maintain and organize financial files and documentation.
- Assist with audits and other accounting projects as assigned.
- Perform other accounting-related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Proficiency in basic math.
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a plus.
- 1-2 years of experience in an accounting or administrative support role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with team members and other departments.
