Job Description
This position is responsible for the support of Alta Link's Energy Management System (EMS) utilized primarily by Alta Link's Control Center (ACC). This support includes the construction, operation, maintenance and security of the computer equipment, network equipment, software, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) connections, and other subsystems required to operate and maintain Alta Link's Transmission System assets.
The successful candidate will enjoy a work environment which is fast paced, high-pressured, yet structured, which ensures the mission critical EMS high availability systems are in service at all times.
Responsibilities
Support the EMS and associated infrastructure to ensure the control center has the services required to manage Alta Link's transmission assets
Application of new software and upgrades to existing software used in the EMS, its databases and operating systems
Maintaining the external interfaces required at the control centers.
Troubleshoot EMS/SCADA problems with Field Technicians/Engineers and system vendors. Construct, integrate,
test and document recent hardware and software following processes to adhere to requirements such as Alberta Reliability Standard including Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and Operational and Planning (O&P;), Information Security Management System (ISO 27001 & 27019), and CSC
Utilize existing processes and procedures, propose improvements, and implement new processes and procedures
Monitor EMS/SCADA system performance and applications to optimize performance and identify opportunities for improvement
Implement changes in the EMS/SCADA and associated system which may include network infrastructure (i.e. firewalls, routers, switches) or applications (i.e. OS, Solar Winds, Tripwire)
Test and commission new SCADA Remotes or points to the system
Regularly scheduled standby duties to support the EMS 24/7
Demonstrate key behaviors and meet identified expectations outlined in our four cultural pillars - one team, continuous improvement, customer focus and personal accountability.
Requirements
A diploma or degree in Information Technology, Telecom, Electronics, or Electrical Technology
Minimum of one year experience in an EMS or data centre setting
Proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities
Previous experience supporting high availability mission critical systems and Real Time SCADA Systems.
Previous experience with ticketing systems such as Change Gear and Service Now
Demonstrated fundamental experience with cyber security best practices
A systematic approach to task completion, troubleshooting, and documentation.
Strong attention to detail, self-motivated, and takes initiative to pursue goals
Strong written communications skills and documentation experience in creating process and procedure
Good verbal communication skills are required as this position is often in contact with other support team members, field operators and outside contractors
Effective interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive customer outcomes
Creative problem solving coupled with a proven ability to work in a fast-paced high-pressure environment
Demonstrated experience with hyperconverged infrastructure; experience with VMWare and VXRail is preferred
Demonstrated experience in networking and security equipment; experience with Palo Alto, Cisco, and RSA is preferred
Working experience with enterprise applications such as Tripwire Enterprise, Tripwire Log Center, Cyberark and Trellix suite of tools would be an asset
Demonstrated experience with SQL Databases
Demonstrated experience with hardware platforms such as Dell, HP, Lenovo
Demonstrated experience with scripting with Powershell, batch files, wmi queries
Working experience in Windows support systems, such as Active directory, patch management and deployment of software, and system builds, WSUS,
Working knowledge of Linux Operating Systems and associated support tools.
Must be able to perform regular standby duties including weeknights, weekends and holidays
Proven track record of good attendance and performance
