Royal Roads University invites your interest in a three-year, limited-term Faculty appointment at the rank of assistant professor within our School of Leadership & Management in the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies (FIS). This position is a 3 year Limited-Term Appointment. As a core faculty member, you will play a key role in the delivery of programs.
The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and graduate programming through disciplinary teaching and graduate student advising in tourism and hospitality. They will also contribute administratively to the department's programs.
As part of a collaborative and interdisciplinary academic community, the successful candidate will engage with colleagues across diverse fields, contributing to a research culture that values integration across disciplines. If you're passionate about helping students achieve their academic pursuits and enjoy working within a collaborative, innovative, and team-based teaching environment, we would like to hear from you. If you possess well-developed interpersonal communication skills and relationship-building abilities and are interested in socially responsible business methods, then we want to hear from you.
Job Requirements To be well-suited for this role, you will possess the following qualifications:
- Adoctorate or equivalent in tourism management, hospitality management, business, or a related field with at least 3 years of industry and university teaching experience.
- Demonstrate teaching excellence at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels using the principles of adult learning and applied learning in both face-to-face and online learning environments.
- Possess a broad theoretical and practical understanding ofthe hospitality and/or tourism management discipline.
- Proven skills in quantitative research methodology.
- Apply teaching and learning approaches that incorporate experiential and active learning methodologies to foster high student engagement in online and in-class learning.
- Experience with the design and development of curriculum at theundergraduate and/or graduate levels.
- Research experience with academic and applied projects.
- Specified research agenda within tourism and/or hospitality management, and a readiness to apply for funding opportunities.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and a commitment to collaborating as a team member.
- Experience building relationships with industry representatives to expand opportunities for students (internships, research projects) and to maintain RRU agency and action with industry.

The Assistant
Professor salary range is $86,105 to $128,770. The starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
