POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Henry N.R. Jackman Faculty of Law and the Department of Philosophy in the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto invite applications from outstanding scholars for a full-time tenure stream position held jointly in the Faculty of Law (51%) and the Department of Philosophy (49%) in Law and Philosophy. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must hold a JD or equivalent degree. A doctoral degree, earned by the time of the appointment or shortly thereafter, is preferred. Candidates must have a clearly demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching, and an established international reputation. We seek candidates with research and teaching expertise in both Law and Philosophy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Candidates will be expected to sustain and lead cutting-edge and independent research, and to maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program. In addition, the successful candidate will be assigned a teaching and service load.

HIRING SALARY RANGE

The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The upper end of the salary range for this position exceeds $200,000 CAD per annum.
