BIMIS Canada is looking for experienced Automotive Body Damage Assessors to support a vehicle hail damage assessment project involving new and unsold vehicles .
This prospect is ideal for automotive professionals, including SAIT alumni , with experience in auto body repair, collision repair, vehicle damage assessment, automotive estimating, paintless dent repair (PDR), insurance appraisal, body shop/dealership inspections, or automotive refinishing.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify VINs, stock numbers, and vehicle details.
- Inspect vehicle exteriors for hail damage.
- Assess body panels, glass, trim, paint, and transparent-coat condition.
- Record dent size, quantity, location, and severity.
- Determine suitability for PDR or conventional repair.
- Differentiate hail damage from transport or pre-existing damage.
- Capture inspection photos and complete BIMIS digital inspection records.
- Escalate unusual findings to the BIMIS technical team.
Experience & Qualifications Candidates should have 3–5 years of relevant hands-on experience and be able to demonstrate their skills through previous employment, projects, certifications, references, or a practical assessment.
The following are considered an asset:
- Auto Body Technician, Collision Repair, or Automotive Refinishing certification
- Automotive estimating or damage appraisal certification
- PDR, I-CAR, or OEM collision repair training
- Apprenticeship/Journeyperson certification
- Insurance appraisal experience
- SAIT education or alumni background
Skills Strong knowledge of vehicle body components, damage identification, PDR principles, accurate documentation, photography, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with reliable transportation.
Selection Process
Shortlisted candidates may complete a technical interview, qualification verification, reference checks, BIMIS inspection methodology training, and a practical vehicle assessment.
Work Conditions
Contract/project-based assignments at vehicle storage facilities. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors, standing for extended periods, and working in varying weather conditions. Schedules will depend on project requirements. Approved travel and mileage arrangements will be discussed before assignment.
