About Monaco Cafe

Monaco Cafe is a fast-paced, high-volume independent cafe located in the heart of Gastown. We specialize in premium espresso beverages, handcrafted breakfast, freshly baked pastries, desserts, and exceptional customer service.

We're looking for reliable, hardworking, and friendly individuals who enjoy working with people and thrive in a busy team environment.

Position Overview

As a Cafe Team Member, you will be trained across multiple areas of the cafe, including:

- Specialty coffee and espresso preparation
- Customer service and cash handling
- Breakfast preparation and food assembly
- Serving pastries, desserts, and gelato
- Cleaning and maintaining cafe standards
- Opening and closing procedures
- Stocking and organization

This is a physically active, fast-paced position, especially during breakfast and lunch service. Successful candidates enjoy staying busy, multitasking, and working as part of a team.

Responsibilities

- Welcome customers with a friendly and professional attitude.
- Prepare beverages and breakfast items according to Monaco Cafe standards.
- Accurately take customer orders using the POS system.
- Serve pastries, desserts, and gelato.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked workspace.
- Wash dishes and assist with daily cleaning duties.
- Follow opening and closing procedures.
- Work efficiently during busy service periods.
- Communicate effectively with managers and coworkers.

Qualifications

- Previous cafe, restaurant, or customer service experience is an asset, but not required.




- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional.
- Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Takes initiative, learns quickly, and maintains high cleanliness and food safety standards.
- A valid Food Safe Level 1 Certificate is required, or applicants must be willing to obtain one immediately upon hire.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Physical Requirements

- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift up to 10 kg.
- Frequently bend, reach, and carry items.
- Work in a fast-paced environment throughout the shift.

Availability Flexible availability is required. Morning, afternoon, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be scheduled based on operational needs. Availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and closing shifts is a solid asset.
