Job Overview Island Health’s Department of Cardiology seeks two full time Cardiologists to join existing cardiologists, cardiac internists, and intensivists at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. The role will help establish a Heart Health Division in Nanaimo as part of the 20-member Division of Cardiology in Victoria.

Responsibilities - Provide acute cardiology consultation for hospitalists and other specialty groups.

- Interpret echocardiography (requires Canadian level 2 training or higher with currency), Holter, and ECG studies.
- Supervise nuclear perfusion imaging.
- Perform pericardiocentesis and DC cardioversions.
- Conduct rapid cardiac assessment clinics.
- Follow up with patients in a private office and fulfill routine administrative duties.




- Participate in cardiology division meetings and other relevant meetings.
- Adhere to a call schedule of 1:5–1:6.

Qualifications - Hold the FRCPC Cardiology designation or be eligible for Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Internal Medicine and Cardiology exams.

- Be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC.
- Preferably have experience in a coronary care unit and in acute and office‑based cardiology.
- Be eligible for provisional licensure with the CPSBC.
