Work as a Shipping Monitor for Baffinland, actively engaging with the community of Pond Inlet and overseeing shipping activities. This role requires keen observation skills and effective communication to foster community relations. Reporting directly to the Sr.
Manager, Environmental, Social & Governance, your responsibilities will focus on monitoring daily shipping routes and documenting marine wildlife activity. You'll be a primary liaison between Baffinland and the community, ensuring that residents are aware of shipping operations and any potential concerns related to Inuit harvesting. Key Responsibilities:
- Use exactEarth AIS to monitor vessel routes
- Document daily shipping and wildlife activities
- Enforce communication protocols with community hunters
- Compile and prepare end-of-year shipping summaries
- Manage incoming inquiries from community members Requirements:
- High School diploma
- Inuit resident of Pond Inlet, Nunavut Agreement enrolled
- One year of computer and data tracking experience
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Inuktitut
- Experience with marine communication tools Foster robust community ties while ensuring effective shipping operations as a Shipping Monitor at Baffinland.
