Are you a seasoned financial reporting expert looking to quarterback the consolidation process for a highly liquid, publicly-listed holding company?
Do you thrive in a lean, flat, and highly entrepreneurial environment where everyone—from the executive team down, willing to dive in to get the job done?
Are you an up-and-coming leader who wants to step out of a siloed corporate machine, embrace AI and contemporary tech, and have a direct impact on executive decision-making?
We are searching for a highly driven Corporate Controller to take ownership of the financial reporting function for a well-funded, independent investment firm focused on the global natural resources sector.
If you are ready to report directly to a dynamic CFO, gain exposure to the CEO and Board of Directors, and take on a role that offers true "skin in the game," we want to hear from you.
As the Corporate Controller, you will not just manage a process; you will quarterback it. You will "hold the pen" on all financial reporting and MD&A;, balancing high-level strategic reporting with hands-on, day-to-day execution.
Quarterback the Consolidations: Prepare, maintain, and update complex corporate consolidations, managing additions, disposals, and ownership changes in subsidiaries and equity-accounted investments.
Public Company Reporting: Lead the quarterly and annual financial reporting cycles, draft the MD&A;, maintain internal controls, and manage external audit relationships.
Complex Technical Accounting: Research, interpret, and apply complex IFRS guidance (including IFRS 2, 3, 10, 11, 13, and IAS 28) to record complex transactions and ensure compliant disclosures.
Hands-On Execution:
Perform month-end/quarter-end closes, intercompany reconciliations, and prepare journal entries using Oracle NetSuite.
Embrace Technology: Leverage modern tech and AI tools to streamline accounting research, summarize complex documents, and create process efficiencies.
What’s In It For You?
Direct Executive Exposure: A collaborative, flat organization where you will have a seat at the table with the C-suite, the investment team, and the Board of Directors.
Flexible Hybrid Work: A highly flexible culture that focuses on output and maturity rather than rigid in-office schedules.
Competitive Compensation: An attractive base salary and discretionary bonus structure, with the potential for equity compensation for the right entrepreneurial candidate.
Perks: Comprehensive health and dental coverage, an excellent RRSP matching program, a $500 annual fitness/equipment reimbursement, and access to a TelusHealth Employee Assistance Program.
Culture: A genuinely collaborative and pet-friendly office environment.
What You Bring:
Designation & Experience: A CPA designation with a minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience.
The Big 4 Foundation: A strong background in public audit (Big 4 preferred) with deep exposure to complex corporate consolidations and IFRS reporting.
The "Owner" Mindset: An entrepreneurial, "roll-up-your-sleeves" attitude. You play nicely in the sandbox but possess the professional confidence to appropriately challenge assumptions from auditors, the CFO, and the CEO.
Systems Mastery: Advanced Excel skills are mandatory. Experience with Oracle NetSuite is a strong asset, as well as the aptitude to learn and implement new systems like Workiva.
