McDougall Energy is looking for a collaborative and driven legal professional to fill the position of Corporate Counsel . Reporting to the General Counsel this role is an integral member of the Corporate Legal team responsible for providing strategic legal guidance across all areas of our daily operations and long-term business initiatives. This role will ensure that all departments are well-informed and compliant with relevant areas of law including business, contract and employment laws.

Drafting, reviewing and approving commercial contracts, ensuring they align with Company interests and legal standards.

Providing advice on the status of contracts, potential legal risks and associated liabilities.

Offering legal counsel to Management on diverse legal issues and challenges.

Collaborating with various Company departments to ensure understanding and adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.





Proactively researching and anticipating legal issues, ensuring the Company is well-prepared for potential challenges.

Managing insurance claim files and supporting insurance counsel.

Assisting with the tender review process for insurance, compliance, certification and indemnification matters.

Design and deliver training sessions on relevant legal topics for the Company’s departments, including specific regulations.

A law degree from a recognized university and be admitted to the Ontario Bar Association A licensed member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario (LSO)

3 to 5 years of experience practicing as an in house legal practitioner of a mid to large sized corporation or relevant experience working at a business law firm.

Ability to work independently with little supervision.
