Full time · Reporting to the Head of Production · On-site, with hybrid flexibility.
About Magnafire
Magnafire is an end-to-end creative studio producing bold, culturally fluent video for outdoor, sport, retail, and wellness brands. We make platform-native work for Arc'teryx, Red Bull, lululemon, Brooks Running, Meta, and TaylorMade Golf, work that lives on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube and balances creative bravery with performance. We've also run Arc'teryx's TikTok account since day one, growing it from zero to 510K followers.
Role overview
We're looking for a Creative Producer who can own productions end to end: logistics, crew, gear, budgets, contracts, and the client relationship throughout the lifecycle, while being genuinely creative enough to step in and direct projects from time to time. You'll lead your own productions from day one and act as producer on all our shoots.
The role in one line:
You are a core part of the operational backbone in every production. A producer first, with real creative ability as your second gear. You anticipate problems and solve them before they land on anyone else's desk. You keep projects on time, on budget, and drama-free, and you're the calm, polished point of contact clients trust once a project is greenlit.
If that sounds like the role you've been waiting to grow into, read on.
- Employment type: Full-time, on-site (East Vancouver) with hybrid flexibility.
- Salary range: $72,000 to $90,000 CAD + bonus eligibility. Placement reflects experience, with the upper band reserved for candidates already producing at scale.
- Vacation & leave: 3 weeks paid vacation; paid sick days.
- Time-in-lieu: Occasional pre/post-hours on-set work is required. Pre-approved additional hoursmay be banked as time-in-lieu for extra paid days off.
- Hours: Mon-Fri, 9-5; on-set as needed (some mornings, evenings, and weekends).
What you'll do
- Client leadership. Once a project is greenlit, you are the primary point of contact: kickoffs, timelines, approvals, and status updates.
You host clients with confidence and manage expectations under pressure.
- End-to-end producing. Budgets, timelines, crew booking, gear logistics, permits, and call sheets, from pre-pro through handoff to post. You anticipate the risks that sink shoots, weather, locations, crew, and gear, and by the time anyone else raises them you've already handled them.
- Lead producing. On our largest, director-led productions you act as showrunner so the director can direct.
- Directing. You direct Magnafire productions from time to time: shot lists, pre-vis, creative and on-location direction should all be in your repertoire. This complements the producing focus, with room to grow into large-scale directing over time.
- Crew, vendors, and gear. You build and manage a vetted roster of freelancers and vendors, and you own rental and hire decisions alongside the Head of Production, including when to use in-house gear versus renting.
- Handoff to post. You keep tight documentation and coordinate a clean handoff to Post with assets and director's notes, so nothing gets rebuilt downstream.
What you'll bring
- Producer first. 4+ years in video production with hands-on producing across pre-pro, shoot days, and handoff to post. Proven ability to run budgets, schedules, crews, and vendors on client-facing productions.
- Demonstrably proactive. You catch problems before they escape, and you can prove it with real examples.
- Client-ready. Confident, polished, and calm under pressure. You can own an account and communicate clearly to clients.
- Technically fluent. Strong knowledge of camera systems, lighting, and production gear; platform fluency across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube with social-first storytelling instincts.
- Organized.
Excellent budgeting and organizational skills (Sheets/Excel, call sheets, schedules), and practical AI fluency in pre-pro.
- Genuinely creative. Genuine directing ability as a secondary skill. You can carry a project's vision yourself, not just execute someone else's, aligned to Magnafire’s creative standards.
- Mobile. Valid driver's license and able to travel to shoots in the region.
How we split the work
We draw a clean line and share it with clients at kickoff, so everyone knows who to bring what to:
- You own: logistics, timelines, budgets, crewing, equipment, creative documentation and status communication.
- The Head of Production owns: the brand creative vision and execution, final budget sign-off, and operational oversight across all projects.
What success looks like (first 12-months)
- On-time delivery: 95% of projects delivered on schedule to post handoff.
- Budget accuracy: within ±5% variance on 90% of productions.
- Client satisfaction: average ≥ 9/10 on post-project surveys, with clients renewing.
- Self-sufficiency: independently owning productions end-to-end within the first quarter - solo-leading small and mid-size projects with minimal involvement from the Head of Production.
- Lead producing: running Magnafire’s largest director-led shoots without escalations landing above you, freeing the Head of Production's time toward overall brand creative and direction.
Our POV on AI
- Craft first. AI accelerates and elevates; it doesn't replace taste, story, or direction.
- Clarity over novelty. We use AI where it saves time or lifts quality, not just because it's shiny.
- Brand-safe. We respect rights, disclosures, and client preferences. No surprises.
