The Northwest Territories Housing Corporation is seeking a District Controller to join the Sahtu District Office in Norman Wells.
If you're an experienced accounting professional looking for a leadership role with broad operational responsibility, this is an opportunity to oversee financial management, human resources, and administration for the Sahtu District. You'll play a key role in supporting housing operations, safeguarding public assets, and helping Local Housing Organizations deliver essential housing programs to communities across the region.
About the Role
Reporting to the District Director, you'll provide leadership for the district's financial operations while supporting four Local Housing Organizations with budgeting, financial reporting, internal controls, training, and operational advice. You'll also oversee district administration, human resources, capital project financial management, and contracting processes while working closely with community partners and corporate staff to ensure sound financial stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead financial management, reporting, budgeting,
and internal controls for the Sahtu District
- Support and advise Local Housing Organizations on budgeting, financial planning, audits, and financial performance
- Oversee financial administration for district capital projects, contracts, and procurement
- Manage district human resources and administrative operations
- Develop and deliver financial training and support to district staff and Local Housing Organizations
- Provide financial advice and operational support to the District Director and senior leadership
Qualifications Required
- Three (3) to four (4) years of experience in financial management
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles, financial planning, auditing, human resource administration, and financial management systems is required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
