We are looking for an experienced, dependable, and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator to join our welcoming multi-age childcare program.

The successful candidate will help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where children can build confidence, independence, creativity, and a lifelong interest in learning. This position requires an educator who is comfortable taking responsibility for the classroom, independently supervising children, and supporting children at different ages and developmental stages.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Plan and lead developmentally appropriate activities that support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and creative development.
- Confidently supervise and manage the classroom independently when required.
- Maintain a calm, welcoming, organized, and engaging learning environment.
- Support children of different ages, abilities, interests, routines, and developmental levels within a multi-age setting.
- Guide children through daily transitions, including arrival, activities, outdoor play, meals, rest periods, clean-up, and departure.
- Manage nap routines while offering quiet and appropriate activities for children who do not sleep.
- Encourage independence, curiosity, kindness, cooperation, problem-solving, and respectful behaviour.
- Introduce children to countries, cultures, traditions, languages, music, art, stories, celebrations, and geography.
- Help children from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds feel included, represented, and valued.




- Include mindfulness practices such as breathing exercises, yoga, stretching, movement, sensory play, music, and quiet reflection.
- Share personal hobbies, cultural knowledge, languages, talents, and interests through classroom activities and special projects.
- Provide engaging learning experiences through play, stories, songs, art, nature exploration, movement, and hands-on activities.
- Observe children’s development and adapt activities to support their individual strengths, interests, and needs.
- Support children with disabilities, additional needs, or different learning styles with patience, respect, and inclusion.
- Assist with feeding, diapering, toileting, dressing, handwashing, rest routines, and other daily caregiving responsibilities.
- Follow all childcare licensing, health, hygiene, safety, and supervision requirements.
- Keep the classroom, play areas, materials, and equipment clean, safe, and organized.
- Communicate professionally with parents and guardians about their child’s day, development, achievements, routines, and concerns.
- Build positive relationships with families and respect their cultures, traditions, languages, values, and caregiving practices.
- Work collaboratively with other educators to plan activities, solve problems, and strengthen the childcare program.
- Participate in staff meetings, training opportunities, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications
- A minimum of two years of experience working with children in a licensed childcare or early learning setting is required.
- A valid Early Childhood Educator certificate
- Infant and Toddler Educator certification is a strong asset.
- Special Needs Educator certification is a strong asset.




- Must be confident and capable of independently supervising children and leading the classroom.
- Previous experience working in a multi-age childcare setting is required.
- Experience managing nap schedules, non-napping children, classroom transitions, and group routines is required.
- Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate teaching practices.
- Excellent classroom-management, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm, attentive, patient, and responsible while supervising children.
- Genuine interest in helping children develop socially, emotionally, physically, creatively, and intellectually.
- Understanding of inclusion, cultural diversity, equity, and belonging.
- Interest in introducing children to geography, cultures, traditions, languages, and communities around the world.
- Knowledge of additional languages is considered a strong asset.
- Willingness to contribute personal interests, hobbies, talents, cultural knowledge, and creative skills to the program.
- Experience or interest in mindfulness, yoga, music, dance, art, gardening, outdoor learning, sensory play, or nature-based education is an asset.
- Experience supporting children with disabilities or additional support needs is an asset.
- Strong ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to establish respectful and professional relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- A valid criminal record check and all documentation required for licensed childcare must be provided.
