Forestry and Resource-Road Hauling
Lydell Group Inc. is seeking experienced, professional and safety-minded Class 1 King B Log Truck Drivers to join our forestry hauling operations.
This is not an entry-level driving position. We are looking for dependable drivers with proven experience operating King B logging configurations on forestry roads, steep grades and changing seasonal conditions.

Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate tri-drive tractors with King B logging trailers.
- Transport logs from active cut blocks to mills, yards and designated delivery locations.
- Complete thorough pre-trip, en-route and post-trip equipment inspections.
- Identify and report mechanical defects, damaged components and maintenance concerns.
- Confirm loads are properly positioned, balanced and secured before travelling.
- Inspect bunks, stakes, chains, wrappers, binders, lights, tires, brakes and trailer components.
- Communicate clearly with loader operators, dispatch, supervisors and other drivers.
- Follow designated radio channels, calling procedures and resource-road protocols.
- Safely navigate forestry roads, steep grades, narrow approaches, soft ground and changing road conditions.
- Install and remove tire chains safely when road and weather conditions require them.
- Maintain safe travelling distances and adjust speed for road, traffic, weather and load conditions.
- Follow loading, unloading,
mill-yard and exclusion-zone requirements.
- Keep the truck, trailer, cab and working areas clean and orderly.
- Complete driver logs, trip reports, inspection documents and delivery paperwork accurately.
- Participate in hazard assessments, toolbox meetings and daily work planning.
- Follow Lydell Group safety procedures, transportation requirements and emergency-response expectations.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Valid Alberta Class 1 driver’s licence, or an equivalent licence recognized in Alberta, with the appropriate air-brake qualification.
- Proven experience operating King B logging equipment.
- Demonstrated experience hauling logs on forestry and resource roads.
- Acceptable commercial driver’s abstract.
- Strong understanding of load securement, weight distribution and safe hauling practices.
- Knowledge of daily commercial-vehicle inspection and hours-of-service responsibilities.
- Experience driving on steep grades, winter roads and changing ground conditions.
- Ability to safely chain up and remove chains as conditions require.
- Strong radio communication and resource-road awareness.
- Ability to complete accurate inspection reports,
driver logs and trip documentation.
- Ability to recognize equipment defects and communicate maintenance requirements.
- Dependable attendance and the ability to work effectively with limited supervision.
- Current industry safety certifications are considered an asset.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
