It is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of local residents, many of whom are families using the child care centres or the Family Dayhome program. The Society focuses on creating secure, nurturing, and inclusive environments for children and families.

Team members work closely with the community to support accessible, reliable child care options.

Role Description

The Family Dayhome Consultant is a full-time, in office role based in Calgary, AB. This position is responsible for supporting and monitoring approved family dayhome providers to ensure safe, developmentally appropriate care for children. Day-to-day tasks include conducting regular home visits, assessing program quality, and providing guidance on child development, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The consultant collaborates with families and caregivers to address concerns, maintain documentation, and support placements that meet children’s needs.



The role also involves coordinating training and resources for dayhome providers, participating in community outreach activities, and contributing to continuous improvement of the Dayhome program.

Qualifications

- Knowledge and experience in child welfare, with a strong commitment to child safety and wellbeing.

- Skills in case management and social services to assess family needs and coordinate appropriate supports.

- Experience in community outreach to build relationships with families, caregivers, and community partners.

- Background in psychology or related child development fields to support age-appropriate practices.

- Relevant post-secondary education in social work, early childhood education, human services, or a related discipline.

- Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and independently.

- Experience in regulated child care or family dayhome settings is an asset.

- Ability to travel locally for home visits and meetings; valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle is required.
