Green Ladder Contractors

Red Deer

Green Ladder builds composite and treated lumber decks, fences, sheds, and outdoor structures across Red Deer and Central Alberta. When the yards freeze we keep building inside, from framing to interior renovations like kitchens, bathrooms, and basements. We are growing, and we would rather hire for character and drive than for a resume that ticks all the boxes.

What It Is Actually Like

Work through the winter, if you want it:The build season runs spring through fall. When the yards freeze we move inside and do interior renovations: kitchens, bathrooms, basements. For someone versatile enough to run both, that is year round work instead of a November layoff and a scramble in April. Not everyone wants to swing between the two, and that is fine. If you do, we would rather keep you than rehire you in the spring.

Check our standard before you apply: Most companies tell you they care about quality. We drew ours. There are cross-section drawings on this site showing how we frame a deck, where the joist tape goes, why the blocking is staggered so opposing screws never meet, and how deep the footings sit. Go look at them. If that is not already the standard you work to, we are probably not a fit and you will have saved us both a conversation.

The owner is on the tools: He is on site, not behind a desk. You work alongside the person who owns the outcome, which means you get answers without waiting and the standard is not theoretical. It also means leading from the front is the actual expectation, not a line in a job ad.

Room to move up: Lead hand, site supervisor, project roles. We are small enough that the people who drive production get noticed, and growing enough that there is somewhere for them to go.

Where that leads for you is a conversation we would rather have with you than advertise.

Foreman / Lead Hand / Experienced Carpenter - F/T Permanent A production leadership role for someone who can walk onto a job site and run it. You lead one crew from day one, with a clear path to two active sites as we scale.

We are looking to balance David’s time across a couple of crews, which means we need someone experienced enough to hold the vision, the production, and the code compliance without hand-holding. We build above and beyond code, not just to it.

What You Will Actually Do

- Lead one crew from day one, with a clear path to managing two active sites as we scale
- Maintain structural and code compliance with the Alberta building codes across our exterior and interior work
- Ensure every job meets our quality standard: framing, composite installation, finishing, and client-facing presentation
- Solve problems on the fly and keep work moving without waiting for the owner
- Set the tone for professionalism, pace, and craftsmanship on site
- Communicate directly with clients when needed. You represent the company
- Hold crew members accountable to production targets and quality benchmarks, in a positive and friendly way
- Train and coach the crew on craft techniques and skills, so everyone has room to grow

What You Bring

- Significant hands-on experience in deck building,

structural carpentry, framing, or interior renovation. This one is non-negotiable
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a crew to hit production targets
- Solid knowledge of the Alberta Building Code as it applies to the structures we build
- Experience with composite decking systems and treated lumber framing
- Intrinsic motivation. You see what needs to happen and you make it happen
- Detail-oriented and unwilling to cut corners
- High personal standards for quality, even under schedule pressure
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Professional presentation. You are the face of Green Ladder on site
- Open-minded, honest, and grounded in integrity. This is a culture thing as much as a skills thing
- Respect for clients property, cleanliness throughout building, tools and materials

Nice to Have

- Red Seal or carpentry trade certification. Not required, but a plus
- Experience managing crews and jobsites in a tidy, organized way that supports safety and production

What You Get

- Competitive pay. If you can do what this role requires, we will compensate accordingly
- A company growing quick that wants you to grow with it
- A crew that works hard, laughs along the way, and supports each other
- Real autonomy and a servant leadership culture. You lead from the front and earn respect by doing
- Mid to high luxury projects using premium products, the kind of work you are proud to put your name on
- After a 3-month probation: access to a health spending account, and eligibility for an accelerated performance bonus weighted to results rather than hours

Pay: $26.00-$40.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
