Company Description

ShipTop is a leading eCommerce fulfillment provider, utilizing advanced technology and a customer-focused approach to help businesses grow. Our comprehensive digital solution combines a multi-channel order and inventory management system with a fast and reliable fulfillment process, enabling eCommerce merchants to scale and succeed. With exceptional customer feedback, ShipTop offers the highest service levels at competitive rates, making fulfillment accessible for every company.

Role Description The Freight Operations Manager owns the end-to-end international freight process for a portfolio of ShipTop Freight clients — from the moment goods leave a client's overseas supplier to the moment they arrive on the shelf in one of our warehouses. This includes coordinating ocean and air freight bookings, managing customs clearance, arranging drayage, and overseeing cargo pickup and delivery.

You'll act as the primary point of contact for clients on all freight matters, working closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and drayage carriers to keep shipments moving and clients informed. This role requires someone comfortable owning complex, multi-party logistics processes with real deadlines and real consequences for delay.

Responsibilities

- Manage the full freight lifecycle for assigned clients: ocean/air booking, in-transit tracking, customs clearance, drayage, and warehouse delivery
- Act as the main point of contact for clients on freight shipments, providing proactive status updates and resolving issues as they arise
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and drayage carriers to ensure on-time, compliant delivery

- Review and manage documentation required for customs clearance (commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, HS codes, etc.)
- Identify and resolve delays, customs holds, or exceptions, escalating and communicating clearly when issues arise
- Track freight costs and flag discrepancies between quoted and invoiced charges
- Maintain organized records of shipments, documentation, and client communications
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with freight forwarding and customs partners
- Identify opportunities to improve freight processes, timelines, and cost efficiency

Qualifications

- Prior experience in freight forwarding, customs brokerage, import/export logistics, or international supply chain
- Working knowledge of ocean and air freight processes, customs clearance requirements, and drayage operations
- Familiarity with import documentation (commercial invoices, bills of lading, HS classification) and CBP/CBSA compliance basics
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and clients simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a client-facing comfort level
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to stay calm and clear under time pressure
- Experience in eCommerce or 3PL logistics is an asset
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, or related field preferred; customs brokerage license or freight forwarding certification a plus

Pay: $55,000.00-$60,000.00 per year

- Adaptable schedule
