Position Summary: As Tony Roma’s prepares for its highly anticipated grand launch in downtown Calgary, we are seeking an agile, results-driven Front of House (FOH) Assistant Manager. This strategic leadership role blends hands-on launch readiness with comprehensive daily operations management. You will directly drive top-line sales, enforce robust inventory compliance, champion elite service recovery, and execute local business growth initiatives to establish our brand as a downtown cornerstone.
Core Strategic Responsibilities
- Sales &
- Revenue Optimization:
Proactively drive shift-by-shift sales through floor coaching, upselling strategies, and targeted server incentives; execute local marketing and business growth plans to build a loyal downtown corporate clientele.
- Comprehensive Service Recovery: Own the guest experience flow to ensure every guest is treated well; act as the primary authority for resolving complex customer service complaints swiftly, transforming negative feedback into long-term customer loyalty.
- Talent Lifecycle Management: Lead high-volume recruitment, structured onboarding, and continuous FOH performance evaluations; hold independent authority to execute strategic hiring and performance-based firing to protect team culture.
- Compliance &
- Asset Control:
Maintain strict regulatory oversight by cross-verifying daily liquor logs, managing bar waste, and ensuring full compliance with Alberta AGLC laws, inventory targets, and safety standards.
- Service Flow &
- Floor Command:
Manage peak-volume table turns, optimize host stands via OpenTable, and run active floor shifts to maintain fluid guest flow and flawless, energetic hospitality metrics.
- Launch &
- Technology Readiness:
Support physical FOH setup (dining layouts,
décor, table charts) and tech installations (POS architecture, credit card processing networks, and digital feedback infrastructure).
- Operational Continuous Improvement: Lead daily manager alignment meetings, run pre-shift huddles, orchestrate training dry-runs (Friends &
- Family tests), and dynamically adapt labor schedules to optimize profitability.
What You Bring
- Proven Leadership: 2+ years of high-volume FOH supervisory or management experience in a premium casual dining setting.
- Financial &
- Operational Acumen:
Direct familiarity with tracking shift labor margins, reading sales trends, and auditing inventory/liquor tracking sheets.
- Service Excellence: Advanced conflict-resolution skills with a proven track record of handling high-stress customer recovery situations gracefully.
- HR Proficiency: Experience interviewing, building high-performing teams, managing employee documentation, and conducting formal corrective actions.
- Technical Fluency: Proficient with enterprise POS systems, OpenTable management, and digital scheduling/inventory tools.
- Certifications: Valid Alberta ProServe certification is strictly required prior to your start date.
