Rise Results Business Services is supporting the Wskijinu’k Mtmo’taqnuow Agency Ltd. (WMA) in seeking an experienced and collaborative General Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the organization and support its continued growth.

Reporting to the President and WMA Board of Directors, the General Manager will provide operational leadership across projects, finances, administration, staff oversight, partnerships, and organizational development. This is a senior leadership opportunity for someone who can turn strategic direction into effective action, build strong internal systems, and manage complex relationships with communities, industry partners, governments, and other stakeholders.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing WMA's existing and emerging projects and joint ventures, supporting sound financial and operational practices, and helping strengthen the organization's capacity as it grows.

Key Responsibilities

The General Manager will:

- Lead WMA's day-to-day operations, including staff oversight, policies, procurement, project execution, and administrative systems.
- Implement strategic plans, policies, and procedures approved by the Board.
- Manage existing and future project and joint venture relationships.
- Support the analysis, due diligence, and development of new project opportunities.
- Oversee budgets, financial reporting, funding compliance, procurement, and audit preparation.
- Monitor project performance and provide regular progress reporting to the Board.
- Support proactive communication and engagement with the 13 Mi'kmaw Chiefs and Councils.
- Liaise with government agencies, industry partners, and WMA-affiliated businesses.
- Support Mi'kmaw education and engagement related to WMA's mandate and projects.




- Represent WMA at community and industry events, as required.
- Strengthen internal systems, organizational capacity, knowledge transfer, and training.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a strong operational leader and project manager who is comfortable working in a growing organization with multiple projects, partnerships, and stakeholders.

They will bring sound judgement, financial and organizational skills, solid communication abilities, and the capacity to build trusted relationships while managing complex operational responsibilities.

Experience working with Mi'kmaw communities, Indigenous organizations, economic development initiatives, major projects, joint ventures, government, or industry partnerships would be considered a strong asset.

Travel is required to meet with communities and project partners and to attend Board meetings and other events.

Wskijinu’k Mtmo’taqnuow Agency (WMA), translating to “the People’s Agency,” is an economic development partnership owned by the 13 Mi’kmaw First Nations communities. Created by the 13 Nova Scotia Chiefs in 2019, WMA explores opportunities to participate in economic activities that benefit the nation. Our participation is normally in the form of joint ventures and equity investments. WMA develops partnerships with industry leaders to participate in opportunities happening in the province. WMA was established with the vision of empowering the Mi’kmaq of Nova Scotia,and aligning business opportunities with the Mi’kmaw Nation’s interests and values.
