ArtVenture offers extra-curricular art classes to school-aged students from Senior Kindergarten to Grade 12. We are seeking a talented and well-versed instructor to expand our teaching staff and to help us provide our students with a learning environment that encourages and enables them to grow as artists. As one of our artistic staff, you will be responsible for teaching, guiding and facilitating a variety of art projects according to the school's curricula.
Our program is structured and aims to help youth develop their artistic skills through in-depth understanding and artistic exploration. With an academic approach to art education, you will provide knowledge and technique while helping students develop a unique artistic voice.
The successful candidate will possess a deep knowledge and understanding of teaching pedagogy and an ability to tailor learning objectives to talented youth who are seeking guidance as they build a portfolio of artwork for post-secondary applications. Furthermore, we will be considering candidates who bring with them a combination of teaching experience along with past experience working with a variety of media (both dry and wet), a well-rounded knowledge of colour theory and art history.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As the classroom teacher, you will
- Provide instruction to students by promoting interactive learning
- Teach groups of ten or more students in each class
- Impart academic knowledge through Art History and Colour Theory
- Practice time management skills along with classroom management to ensure that active learning occurs in a protected space for all participants
- Be able to accommodate various fine-motor and artistic skills by enhancing or modifying learning objectives
- Collaborate with colleagues and school management
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post Secondary Degree in Education and/or Fine Arts
EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience as a teacher / instructor / facilitator
- Extensive knowledge of Art History and Colour Theory
- Ability to guide and instruct in order to help students of all ages find their artistic voice
- Ability to guide and instruct students through various projects using a range of media
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Well-organized and committed
- Creative and energetic
- Ability to motivate and inspire
- Knowledge of CPR an asset

Selected applicants will be invited for an in-person interview and may be invited back to teach a sample lesson.
