Location- This full time position is open to candidates located in Peterborough, Ontario, Halifax, Nova Scotia or in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration or commitment to obtain licensure within one year
- 4–6 years of experience in hydrotechnical engineering, civil engineering, or a closely related field
- Experience completing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and applying hydrology and hydraulics engineering principles
- Experience with open channel flow analysis and numerical modeling
- Proficiency with HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS modeling software
- Experience designing hydraulic structures, dams, or water resources infrastructure
- Experience performing hydrologic studies, including Probable Maximum Precipitation (PMP) and Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) analyses
- Experience with floodplain mapping, dam breach studies, and consequence assessments
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Experience coordinating project work with other engineering disciplines
- Authorization to work in Canada and ability to obtain authorization to work in the United States as required
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel
- Experience with dam safety projects
- Experience in fish passage engineering and fish passage structure design
- Experience with CFD modeling software such as FLOW-3D
- Knowledge of Canadian Dam Association Guidelines, bulletins, and applicable provincial regulations
- Experience with river ice studies
- Experience with dam decommissioning, dam removal, stream restoration, or hydropower feasibility projects
- Experience collaborating with regulators, biologists, and environmental scientists
- Ability to obtain and maintain additional provincial engineering licenses as needed
