As an agency, we focus on bringing inclusive and accessible recreation and social programming to the people who mean the most to us, our Members! We work to break down barriers and adapt to both individual and community needs.

Between

Friends creates opportunities for people with disabilities to connect, grow, and belong through social, recreational, and developmental activities. One of our most popular programs is Camp Bonaventure, a fun, outdoor, fully inclusive summer day camp for youth ages 4-17. Activities at Camp Bonaventure include swimming, crafts, games, and much, much more!

Camp Counsellor , you will be responsible, along with up to 5 other Camp Counsellors, for the direct supervision of up to 10 Campers. You will be placed in an age group before Camp starts, and you may have the chance to work in different groups throughout the summer. As a team you are responsible for the planning and implementation of inclusive, engaging, and fun programming.

Camp Counsellors are responsible for ensuring Campers needs are met and have a fun and fulfilling camp experience.

Senior Counsellor

Direct care and supervision of Campers within a ratio of 1:3 - 1:4.

Plan and implement program activities with high standards of quality and safety, including age appropriateness, variety of activities, and adaptability to different abilities.

Provide the highest standard of personal care and support to Campers.

Follow up with the Senior Counsellor in the event of any emergency situations. Previous experience working at camps is an asset.

You have previous experience working with people with disabilities and the ability to quickly and independently solve problems in high stress situations.

This may include providing support to participants requiring lifts, transfers,



and personal care support.

You have experience adapting activities and programming to meet the diverse needs, as well as developing and implementing programming. You are committed to creating and maintaining safe spaces to promote inclusion and fun! Primarily 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday; some evenings/weekends may be required (e.g., camp clean-up, staff meetings).

Mandatory Training — Camp Dates — Camp Bonaventure runs from June 29, 2026 - August 21, 2026 (excluding Statutory Holidays).

Assigned Camp Bonaventure Location

Must be between the ages of 18-30 (due to funding requirements).

Must be a Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen (due to funding requirements).

Flexibility is especially important in non-profit work, where priorities and resources may shift.

Ability to provide support to participants requiring lifts and transfers, and personal care support.

Previous experience working with people with disabilities is an asset.

Passion for the mission of supporting persons with disabilities.
