Company Description

Cape Breton Regional Hospital (CBRH) is seeking a permanent full-time physician for a dual-trained Infectious Diseases-Medical Microbiology position. Physicians with an FRCPC or equivalent in Medical Microbiology will also be considered.

For candidates with leadership experience or interest, the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine is also seeking a Department Head. This is not a requisite for the ID-MM position but is considered an asset.

CBRH is the second largest hospital in Nova Scotia and provides most sub-specialized services including cancer care, intensive care, and management of immunocompromised patients.



Significant redevelopment is ongoing and expected to be complete by 2028. This role will support the current Infectious Diseases inpatient consult service, Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC), Antimicrobial Stewardship (AS), and provide Medical Microbiology leadership for the Eastern Zone of Nova Scotia.

Responsibilities

- Delivery of inpatient and outpatient Infectious Diseases consultations
- Collaboration with both the Eastern Zone Infectious Diseases service and the Central Zone Division of Infectious Diseases in service delivery
- Medical oversight of Microbiology services for Eastern Zone.
- FRCPC or equivalent specialty training in Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology or in Medical Microbiology
