The State of Minnesota is committed to equity and inclusion, and invests in employees by providing perks, support resources, and training and development opportunities.

The Minnesota Tax Court is seeking qualified candidates for a full‑time paid Appeals Court Attorney/Law Clerk.

Under general supervision by a tax court judge, contribute to the effective and efficient operation of the Minnesota Tax Court by performing professional legal research and other related clerical and administrative tasks in the preparation of memoranda, opinions and orders for tax court judges concerning the cases before them. This includes drafting legal opinions, attending oral arguments and conferences, reading transcripts and memoranda, researching the law, summarizing facts, and analyzing legal issues; performing courtroom and scheduling duties as assigned; operating technology during remote hearings; maintaining confidentiality; and other duties as assigned.

This position is eligible for up to a 50% hybrid telework arrangement. With a telework agreement, onsite attendance will be required for team meetings or as requested by management to meet business needs, which is typically 80% of the pay period. Completion of a telework agreement will be required. Please review the Telework Policy for details.

A criminal history does not automatically disqualify an applicant, and each case will be reviewed individually in alignment with fair hiring processes. This position requires an incumbent must maintain valid driver's license, and insurance, OR have other reliable transportation.

About Tax Court

The Court's mission is to provide timely and equitable disposition of appeals of orders issued by the Commissioner of Revenue and local property tax valuations, classification, equalization and/or exemptions.
