YOUR ROLE:
You will serve as legal counsel for research and innovation matters. You will actively contribute to the contractual management of research projects and support stakeholders in implementing local, national, and international collaborations.
More specifically, your responsibilities will include, among others:
- Drafting, reviewing, analyzing, and negotiating a variety of agreements related to research activities;
- Providing legal advice and opinions regarding research project oversight, governance, and integrated risk management;
- Advising researchers, clinician-researchers, and managers on legal and regulatory issues affecting their activities;
- Structuring and negotiating agreements with funding agencies, academic partners, public organizations, and industry partners;
- Supporting initiatives related to intellectual property, data transfer, material transfer, confidentiality, and privacy protection;
- Monitoring legislative and regulatory developments and contributing to the development or revision of institutional policies, procedures, and standards;
- Developing and delivering training sessions and legal knowledge-sharing tools for research teams;
- Participating in the continuous improvement of processes and the development of best practices in contract management.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. or equivalent);
- Member in valuable standing of the Québec Bar;
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Common Law degree, considered an asset;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in contract drafting and negotiation;
- Knowledge of the research and/or health care sector, a significant asset;
- Knowledge of intellectual property and copyright law, an asset;
- College or university education in a life sciences-related field, an asset;
- Bilingualism in French and English;
- Excellent time and stress management skills, with the ability to manage multiple files simultaneously and effectively prioritize work;
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to explain complex legal concepts in clear, accessible language.
