Founded in the UK, Water Babies is the world’s largest, most professional baby and toddler swimming franchise business, teaching over 54,000 babies and toddlers (ages 0-5) per week. Water Babies has an international network of 70+ franchise outlets across 7 countries: the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, China, USA and Canada.

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable Lifeguard to ensure the safety of our swimmers, uphold our safety policies while lessons are taking place, and facilitate a safe and fun environment in the pool area.

Responsibilities

1. To follow all regular pool and safety regulations in effect at any pool and also Water Babies specific policies and procedures for each pool attended.
2. To be prepared and keep all customers safe in and around the pool area, including correcting unsafe behaviour.

3. To respond to emergency situations and perform rescue techniques and first aid based on NL Training.
4. To report any incidents, accidents or near misses in line with Water Babies policies and procedures.

5. To arrive at each venue, get changed and be ready to guard the pool 15 minutes prior to the first class commencing and to remain on site until the last client has left the building.
6. To tidy up the pool area and check changing rooms for lost property at the end of each shift.

7. To assist the teacher with preparation for class, such as setting up poolside displays, setting up the teacher kit, preparing products for our customers, completing Happy Nappy checks, etc.

8. To provide exceptional customer service and respectfully address questions, queries and product orders from clients.

To assist with meet and greets where required, which will include meeting clients and directing them towards changing rooms, relaying any specifics related to the pool/changing areas (including pool rules), and completing set-up and cleaning procedures.

10. To complete visual risk assessment of pools attended, immediately transparent any hazards when possible, and report back to the office if changes are needed.
11. To ensure the hours logs/invoices are correctly completed and sent to the relevant person in line with the payroll schedule.

12. To provide cover for other lifeguards throughout the franchise area where needed.
13. To maintain order and up to date records in relation to all relevant documentation and administration procedures, as required.

14. To regularly liaise with the office and teachers and flag any ongoing client questions/concerns or health and safety risks.
15. To undertake such other duties commensurate with the grade of the post as may be reasonably required.

1. Provide high quality lifeguarding in line with Water Babies standards.
2. Communicate any client questions or concerns to the office to ensure client satisfaction is at Water Babies standards.

Stay current on Lifeguarding and safety techniques.

2. Coordinates personal work schedule and resources to ensure agreed standards are reached, and where appropriate exceeded.

Essential / Mandatory Requirements

- Current National Lifeguard Society (NLS) is required and must be maintained throughout employment
- Related Lifeguarding experience is required

- Available on Thursday evenings
- Enthusiastic, helpful and reliable with excellent customer service skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a supportive and caring attitude
- Ability to work effectively either as part of a team or individually

- Ability to communicate to babies / toddlers and carers and adapt tone accordingly
- Sense of humour with the ability to mix with a range of different people from differing backgrounds

Desirable / Optional Requirements

- Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or Lifesaving Society Lifeguard / Lifesaving Instructor qualifications
- Basic understanding of pool operations and water chemistry

- Flexibility regarding work hours

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent Pay: $18.00 per hour
