ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Children and Women's Health Program of NL Health Services – Eastern Urban Zone invites expressions of interest for two (2) long-term Locum Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist positions at the Janeway Children's Health and Rehabilitation Centre in St. John's, NL.

Two positions are available with the following locum periods:

- Position 1: September 11, 2026 — End Date To Be Confirmed
- Position 2: November 1, 2026 — End Date To Be Confirmed





Each position is equivalent to 1.0 FTE and is accountable for the provision of comprehensive health care services to patients receiving care from the program. The successful candidates will provide clinical services within the scope of practice for a Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist, delivering individualized direct and indirect patient care to patients within the Children and Women's Health Program.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
- Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca )
- Must satisfy credentialing and privilege requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide comprehensive clinical services within the scope of practice for a Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist
- Provide individualized direct and indirect patient care to patients within the Children and Women's Health Program
- Assess and manage diseases within the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology scope of practice
- Perform procedures including lumbar puncture with administration of intrathecal chemotherapy and bone marrow aspiration and biopsy
- Provide treatments and therapies in which the incumbent has been adequately trained and supervised
- Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements
