Job Title: News Producer – Local & Multilingual News

About the Role:
We are looking for a News Producer to work from our office and coordinate daily local news coverage in multiple languages (English, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu). You will work closely with our team of writers and field reporters to make sure stories are accurate, timely, and well-packaged.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily local news coverage for Surrey and British Columbia
- Work with writers in Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, and English to assign and track stories
- Review and edit content for accuracy, clarity, and balance
- Package stories for website and social media
- Communicate with field reporters during live events
- Help maintain news flow and deadlines throughout the day
- Support the development of solid local angles on community, political, and social stories
Requirements:
- Previous experience in news, media, journalism,
or content coordination
- Strong understanding of local Surrey and BC issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work with multiple languages (knowledge of Punjabi, Hindi, or Urdu is a major advantage)
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple stories at once
- Ability to work under deadline pressure
- Comfortable using Google Docs, basic content management systems, and communication tools
