Become a key contributor to the York Region District School Board as an Ojibwe Language Instructor, supporting Indigenous education initiatives. Your fluency in Ojibwe will enhance the language program in northern YRDSB schools. This role is geared towards providing Ojibwe language instruction aligned with the YRDSB’s First Nation, Métis, and Inuit Education Strategy.

You will collaborate with the Regional Ojibwe Language Team, gaining vital teaching experience. Familiarity with Indigenous pedagogies and cultural contexts will further enrich the learning environment. Key Responsibilities:

- Deliver effective Ojibwe language instruction
- Collaborate with the Ojibwe Language Coordinator
- Facilitate land-based learning experiences
- Enhance student engagement through cultural knowledge
- Support educational preparations and resources Requirements:
- Experience teaching conversational Ojibwe
- Robust interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Familiarity with Indigenous learning methods
- Previous experience with Indigenous children is preferable
- Commitment to equity and diversity practices Your role will profoundly impact students' connection to their Indigenous heritage.
