Company Background – The Box Cafe The Box Cafe is a new food service business built to serve the busy industrial community of
Mitchell Island.
Our goal is to provide fresh, high-quality, and convenient meals to the customers in the area.
The business is fully set up—including the brand, equipment, suppliers, and operating systems.
We are now looking for the right person to take ownership of the day-to-day operations and help grow the business from the ground up.
Position Overview
We're looking for an entrepreneurial leader who wants more than a typical management job.
This is a unique opportunity to help launch and build Box Cafe from the ground up, the successful candidate will play a key role in shaping how the business operates alongside the owner.
Working collaboratively with the owner, you'll have the autonomy to help develop systems, refine operations, source suppliers, influence the menu, and make day-to-day business decisions that drive long-term success.
This role offers significant ownership, responsibility, and the opportunity to grow with the business from day one.
Key Responsibilities
Operations
- Lead the launch and day-to-day operation of The Box Cafe.
- Help establish operational procedures and daily workflows alongside the owner.
- Ensure efficient food preparation, customer service, and food safety.
- Open and close the business.
Team Leadership
- Participate in the hiring process alongside the owner to recruit the support team member.
- Assist with onboarding and training new employees.
- Supervise, coach, and schedule the support employee.
- Build a positive and accountable team culture.
- Supervise and support one team member.
- Create schedules and assign daily tasks.
- Train and motivate staff.
Inventory & Purchasing
- Manage inventory and food costs.
- Coordinate with existing suppliers or source new suppliers as needed.
- Maintain consistent product quality while improving operational efficiency.
Business Growth
- Monitor sales and profitability.
- Improve operational efficiency.
- Suggest new menu items or business ideas.
- Identify opportunities to increase revenue.

Experience:
- Previous experience managing a café, restaurant, food truck, or similar business -Mandatory-
- Experience opening or growing a food business is a strong asset.
- Food Protected Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Reliable transportation to Mitchell Island.
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting wage of $22.00 / hour.

Working Schedule
- Monday to Friday - 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
- Approximately 45 hours per week.
- Future opportunity to expand operations to Saturdays.
