We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly analytical Operations Officer III to join our team in Toronto. In this role, you will provide key back-office operational support focused on Capital Markets settlement operations, trade processing, and reconciliations across Canadian and U.S. markets (CDS/DTC). Operating in a fast-paced environment, you will handle daily reconciliation schedules, fail reporting, trade matching, and client query resolutions while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.

Position Title: Operations Officer
Location: Toronto, Ontario
Work Arrangement: Onsite (First 90 days); Hybrid thereafter (4 days onsite / 1 day remote weekly with Tuesday & Wednesday anchor days)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Position Type: 12-Month Contract (Extension and Permanent Conversion possible based on performance and business needs)

Responsibilities
- Trade Matching & Settlements: Execute daily NI24-101 trade matching, CDS Arrow binds/netting,
and DTC trade affirmations (OMGEO TradeSuite) within strict regulatory timeframes.
- Reconciliations & Reporting: Perform daily reconciliations, suspense and clearing outage corrections, projections, and client fail reporting in line with established SLAs.
- Client & Inquiry Management: Respond to partner and client inquiries promptly (same-day resolution target) and issue regulatory buy-in intents, status reports, and extended failed trade reporting as required.
- Risk & Compliance: Maintain full awareness of regulatory frameworks (including CIRO rules, AML policies, and international buy-in standards). Ensure all processing meets strict audit, compliance, and record-retention standards.
- Process Documentation: Maintain and update team procedures, utilizing SharePoint and shared drives to store settlement statistics and ensure desk coverage.
- System Operations: Execute data input, reporting, and processing using advanced Microsoft Excel models and specialized trade platforms.
Qualifications
- Education: University degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Experience: 5 to 7 years of operational experience within banking, financial services,
or Capital Markets environments.
- Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, Macros).
- Industry Knowledge: Deep practical knowledge of Trade Settlements (CDS and DTC experience is mandatory), Capital Markets, and general trading mechanics.
- Reconciliation Skills: Proven track record in conducting complex financial reconciliations and investigating/resolving outages.
Nice-to-Have Credentials
- Canadian Securities Course (CSC), CFA, or CGA designations.
- Basic coding knowledge (VBA/Python) for process automation.
- Familiarity with Global, WSS, or DTC PBS screens.

- Detail Orientation: High degree of accuracy and precision when dealing with large volumes of data and tight time limits.
- Communication: Clear, concise, and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Teamwork & Flexibility: Strong team-oriented mindset, willingness to cross-train, and ability to adapt seamlessly to changing priorities and volume spikes.
