Role Description The Parcel Shipping Analyst is responsible for making sense of ShipTop's parcel shipping spend — and making it smaller. Using our internal parcel spend analysis tool, you'll dig into shipping data to identify billing errors, service failures, and cost-saving opportunities, then take action: filing disputes with carriers, tracking recoveries, and eventually leading rate negotiations.

This role requires someone who's genuinely comfortable in the weeds of a carrier invoice — dimensional weight pricing, fuel surcharges, accessorial fees, and the fine print of carrier contracts. No prior parcel-specific experience is required, but a strong analytical mindset and the willingness to become an expert in how carriers price and bill is essential.

Responsibilities

- Analyze parcel shipping data using ShipTop's internal spend analysis tool to identify billing errors, overcharges, and anomalies
- Audit carrier invoices against contracted rates, surcharges, and service terms




- File and track billing disputes and service failure refund claims with carriers (UPS, FedEx, and others)
- Build a working understanding of carrier rate cards, dimensional weight pricing, accessorial fees, and surcharge structures
- Monitor rate changes, surcharge increases, and contract terms across carriers
- Prepare reports summarizing spend trends, dispute recoveries, and savings opportunities
- Support and eventually lead carrier rate negotiations, using data to build a negotiation case
- Collaborate with operations and finance teams to align on shipping cost strategy
- Stay current on parcel carrier pricing practices and industry trends

Qualifications

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable working with large datasets and spreadsheets
- Experience with invoice auditing, cost analysis, financial analysis, or procurement is an asset
- Prior exposure to parcel shipping, logistics, or 3PL is a plus but not required — willingness to learn contract and rate mechanics is essential
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through on disputes and recoveries
- Excellent written communication skills for carrier correspondence and internal reporting
- Comfortable with data tools (Excel/Sheets required; SQL or BI tool experience a plus)
- Negotiation experience or aptitude is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field preferred

Pay: $24.00-$30.00 per hour
