Pet Groomer (Part-Time)

The Contemporary Paw is a retail pet boutique and grooming studio in Kitchener focused on high-quality, low-stress grooming for dogs and cats. Since opening in December 2024, we’ve been building a loyal community of pet parents who value thoughtful care, enrichment, and personalized service.

We are a small but mighty team that loves what we do — and we’re looking for a groomer who enjoys working with animals, connecting with clients, and being part of a positive, collaborative workplace.

This role is part-time to start, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position as our business continues to expand.

Responsibilities

- Perform full-service dog grooming, including bathing, drying, brushing, clipping, and styling
- Groom cats or be willing to learn safe and gentle cat grooming techniques
- Safely handle pets of different breeds, sizes, and temperaments
- Maintain a clean and organized grooming workspace
- Keep accurate client records in line with salon policies
- Communicate clearly with pet parents about grooming needs and results




- Occasionally assist with retail support in the boutique
- Help introduce clients to products and services that support their pet’s health, grooming, and enrichment at home
- Participate in store events and community activities that help build The Modern Paw brand
- Assist with retail coverage as needed

Ideal Candidate

- 2+ years of grooming experience preferred
- Experience grooming cats or willingness to learn
- Patient, kind, and gentle with animals
- Eager to continue learning and improving grooming skills
- Friendly and comfortable interacting with clients
- A reliable team player who contributes to a positive workplace
