Health and Counseling Services provides basic medical and mental health care to CSUEB students, and promotes healthy living. We strive to assist students in attaining an optimal state of health, so they may achieve their academic and career goals. The Pharmacist performs general licensed pharmacist work and abides by professional policies as defined and required by the California Board of Pharmacy.This position functions in accordance with CSU Executive Orders, SHCS policies and procedures, and relevant state and federal laws in providing pharmaceutical services and is responsible for the overall operations of the pharmacy while working independently and taking direction from the Pharmacist-in-Charge.

The following duties are meant to illustrate the general range of work functions performed by a Pharmacist I; Provide Pharmaceutical Services to Customers Maintain formularies, standard compendia on pharmaceuticals and references. Submit billing information electronically if applicable. Provide lead work direction and instruct pharmacy technicians, pharmacy helpers, clerks, students and volunteers in the processing and fulfillment of prescriptions Receive and maintain pharmaceuticals and supplies.

Assist with immunizations as requested Perform Inventory Control Maintain medications in the pharmacy formulary and keep pharmacy stocked appropriately Help monitor stock of immunizations Maintain prescription records, controlled substances inventory, DEA inventory and all of otherrecords of dispersion as needed to comply with campus,



state, and/or federal requests Help with monitoring of inventory of medications stored outside of the pharmacy.

Perform

Administrative, Educational, Technical Tasks & Other Duties as Assigned Participates in the adherence of policies and protocols Maintains pharmacy security. Help update licensing and regulatory documentation regarding pharmacy status as needed. Keep abreast of developments in professional field.Thorough knowledge of all drugs, chemicals and supplies required in the operation of the Student Health Center pharmacy.

Working knowledge of automated pharmacy systems; General knowledge of pharmacy administration and the requirements of serving as a Pharmacist-in-Charge. serve as a resource to practitioners and other medical support staff in the areas of pharmacology, drug combination, drug interaction, and alternative drug therapies; participate in the development and implementation of pharmacy policies, procedures and protocols; and provide lead work direction to pharmacy support staff. Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) college of pharmacy program or other program recognized by the board as defined by the California State Board of Pharmacy. Equivalent to one year of experience as a licensed pharmacist working independently.

Possess and maintain a valid pharmacist license as defined and required by the California State Board of Pharmacy.

Experience administering immunizations in a clinical, community, or retail pharmacy setting.

Experience utilizing automated pharmacy dispensing systems and electronic medical record systems, including systems such as Propharm/Pharmac.

Experience with retail pharmacy operations, including point-of-sale transactions, insurance processing, inventory management, and related pharmacy workflows. Knowledge of Family PACT program requirements and billing regulations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with patients, healthcare providers, staff,



and campus partners.

Proficiency using pharmacy-related technology and standard business software applications to support clinical, operational, and administrative functions. Ability and willingness to attend off-site training and career development programs as needed. Satisfactory completion of a background check (including LiveScan, as appropriate), that may include, but is not limited to: criminal records check, verification of academic credentials, licenses, certificates, credit history, professional references and/or verification of work history is required for employment.
