Physicians – Pain & Symptom Management/Palliative Care (Part time)
BC Cancer – Abbotsford
Role Summary
In this part‑time position you will participate in the clinical, educational and research activities of the Pain and Symptom Management/Palliative Care (PSMPC) team. Your role involves addressing the palliative care needs of ambulant cancer patients, integrating oncological management and ensuring continuity of care through effective communication and transfers back to community‑level physicians, home care and palliative services.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate a coordinated approach and ensure continuity of palliative care support through communication and transfers.
- Provide consultation and education to BC Cancer care teams and community‑based care providers as required.
- Support and engage in research and education interests in the area of palliative and supportive care.
- Enhance awareness and provide public and provider education on palliative care and symptom management for oncology patients.
- Integrate palliative care activities with oncological management including survivorship care.
Qualifications
- Fully licensed physician meeting provincial College of Physicians and Surgeons requirements,
as well as the Medical Advisory Committee of the BC Cancer Agency and local hospital requirements.
- Certificate of Added Competency in Palliative Care (CAC) for CCFP background; Palliative Medicine Subspecialty Accreditation or equivalent training and experience for Royal College background.
