Job Information - Job Title: Practice Assurance Advisor - Job Requisition ID: 85926 - Ministry: Education and Childcare - Location: Edmonton - Full or Part-Time: Full Time - Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week - Permanent/Temporary: Permanent - Scope: Open Competition - Closing Date: August 5, 2026 - Classification: Program Services 4 - Salary: $3,148.20 to $4,126.82 bi-weekly ($82,168 - $107,710 annually) Role Responsibilities - Prepare and manage Teacher and Teacher Leader discipline documents, including preparing briefings and related correspondence for Minister's decisions in teacher and teacher leader discipline matters.
- Manage discipline records and prepare records for posting to the Online Teacher/Teacher Leader Registry.
- Review and provide recommendations on Registry exemptions for validity and completeness.
- Provide analysis on investigative findings for applicants applying for teacher certification and complete pre‑certification reviews as required.
- Process Notices of Action from other jurisdictions in relation to teacher records.
- Oversee Board of Reference appeal requests and maintain appeal appointment processes.
- Process ATA election requests including collecting documents, providing recommendations, and responding to applicants and the ATA as required.
- Participate in Office of the Registrar policy and legislative reviews.

Qualifications University graduation in a related field (Education, Public Administration, etc.), plus 4 years of related experience or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or - 1 year of experience for 1 year of education Required knowledge and experience:
- Regulated professions and/or regulatory compliance processes - Analytical skills to define complex and diverse matters and develop appropriate actions for consideration - Working within operational policy/procedures and organizational guidelines to produce work that is clear, consistent, and of high quality - Applying legislation, legal advice and policy to prepare reasoned analysis and recommendations Assets - Human Resource Management - Teaching certification - Analyzing, interpreting, and applying legislation and policy - Early education, childhood to grade 12 education system in Alberta, specifically legislation, policy and practices related to teacher/teacher leader growth, supervision, evaluation, and discipline - Superior communication skills (written, verbal and presentation), including the ability to clearly convey ideas and the ability to actively listen to others - Office software including Action Request Tracking System (ARTS), the Teacher Workforce Information System (TWINS), Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint Advantages - Positive workplace culture and work‑life balance
