About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Pharmacy Services, the Pharmacist is responsible to ensure safe and effective drug therapy by participating in and overseeing drug distribution systems (inpatient and outpatient), supervising pharmacy support staff and identifying and resolving drug-related problems. The Pharmacist provides clinical pharmacy services including drug regimen review, medication reconciliation,
pharmacokinetic monitoring, individual and group patient medication teaching, drug information and educational programs. Pharmacists work on selected medical services, participate in medical rounds, provide discharge medication calendars and counselling to patients and make therapeutic recommendations to the medical team. The Pharmacist may be required to participate in the orientation and training of Pharmacy Students and other hospital personnel.
About You
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or an entry level Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy from a CCAPP (or similar standard) accredited university required
- Completion of a Pharmacy Residency Program preferred
- Eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Pharmacy Regulator (NSPR)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- Minimum two years experience in clinical practice in a hospital pharmacy setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of drugs and therapeutics
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to make accurate and timely recommendations regarding secure and cost-effective use of drugs
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours
Long assignment full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
Approximately 12 months
Compensation and Benefits
$49.42 - $63.29 HourlySuccessful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
