Area Of Responsibility
Reporting to the Senior manager, Emergency Management, this position is responsible to maintain and enhance the preparedness of the Corporation and protect the safety of Brampton residents.
This role is responsible to act as a first point of contact to corporate leaders, stakeholders, residents, community groups, and the local business community for emergency management matters including subject matter expertise regarding large-scale emergencies and disasters.
Accountable to provide advice and counsel on all issues relating to operational processes, policies and best practices to ensure Municipal Emergency Readiness that meet operational needs and corporate service standards.
Direct Reports To This Position
Supervise Emergency Management tasks performed by interns and co-op students assigned to this position, as well as volunteers working in safety patrol and emergency response support functions.
Role Distinctions
- Provide advisory subject matter expertise and emergency planning advice to the Corporation, stakeholders, residents, community groups, and the Brampton business community.
- Coordinate, or participate in coordination, of activities implemented by the section including emergency and business continuity plan development, training, exercises, public education, special events, emergency response, and recovery following incidents.
- Work in close partnership with City of Brampton divisions and external emergency response partners to develop and implement plans including; municipal operations, emergency response, business continuity and post-disaster recovery plans.
