Demands, duties, qualifications

About the Role

We are looking for a part time Research Assistant to help with a mental health research project called: “Digital interventions to enhance mental health of northern communities in Labrador.” This project is working with the community of Nain to help design a virtual mental health program. We encourage applications from residents in Nain, especially those with an interest in mental health and helping their community. Training for this position will be provided, with ongoing support from the research team throughout the project.

Job Summary

This role is part of a community-based project that supports local leadership,communication, and learning. We welcome people with different types of experience—you don’t need to have auniversity degree. If you have skills from work, volunteering, or life experience thatrelate to this role, you are encouraged to apply. Training will be available, and our teamwill provide ongoing support.

As a Research Assistant, your tasks may include:

- Working with the research team (some are in Labrador and Ontario) both onlineand in person in Nain




- Talking with community members and organizations about the project
- Helping to invite people to join the study and explaining the project to them
- Collecting information by:
- Leading or helping with focus groups and interviews
- Helping people fill out surveys
- Supporting participants use mental health tools
- Helping to organize and safely store information
- Writing or helping with reports, updates, and presentations about the project
- Helping with future research ideas and grant applications

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who:
- Communicates well in English (Inuktitut is an asset)
- Is interested in helping improve mental health services for Inuit communities
- Is comfortable working with others and on their own
- Has experience with computers (like Microsoft Word or Excel) this is helpful butnot required
- May have experience in health, social work, education, or community work —this is helpful but not required
- May be familiar with or interested in learning about technology (like mobile apps, wearable devices, or virtual reality tools)
