Job Overview

As Canada’s largest mental health care provider, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) provides evidence to drive system and policy change through the implementation of innovations and novel service delivery interventions. The Research Operations, Services and Support (ROSS) Office is a central group within CAMH Research that provides administrative support to ensure that all research activities carried out at CAMH or by CAMH personnel comply with funder, government, and institutional policies and regulations.

The ROSS Office is seeking a full‑time, permanent Program Officer reporting to the Director, Grants, Philanthropic Awards and Contracts. The role will be an integral member of the ROSS team and will support all of the administrative directors within ROSS (four in total). It will work closely with management, scientists and research staff, and will be primarily responsible for leading and coordinating key initiatives pertaining to the operations of the ROSS Office and supporting the Directors on day‑to‑day tasks. The position is located at 250 College Street with occasional travel to 1001 Queen Street West.

Responsibilities

- Provide calendar support to 4 Directors
- Support onboarding and off‑boarding of ROSS personnel, and, if applicable, research staff and scientists
- Support the operations of the research office: respond to internal/external inquiries, schedule and coordinate appointments and meetings, and take meeting minutes
- Independently plan and manage small projects
- Support high‑profile scientific and leadership recruitment




- Support general administration and coordination of ROSS workflows and research institute initiatives
- Assist with special projects and events (e.g., speaker series, Research Day, etc.) as directed by ROSS administrative directors
- Organize and maintain filing systems, database entry and management, general ROSS communications and office management, and any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

- Undergraduate degree from a recognized academic institution is required.
- 3+ years of work experience in a customer service or administrative role demonstrating relevant skills, including 1+ year in public, academic, or research administration or in general research.
- Excellent communication skills demonstrated by experience drafting formal letters or mass communications.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Exemplary attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, tact, discretion, and a genuine interest in supporting scientific research.
- Experience working in an academic or healthcare environment is an asset.
- Ability to quickly learn and assimilate new information.




- Ability to prioritize and handle a high volume of diverse projects simultaneously.
- Ability to capture and articulate risk issues.
- Ability to communicate and problem‑solve with a diverse variety of stakeholders and team members who may have conflicting interests and priorities.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner.

Compensation & Benefits

- Hiring Salary Range: $65,260.62 – $81,575.78 per year (based on qualifications and experience)
- Full Salary Range: $65,260.62 – $97,890.93 per year (reflecting potential growth within the role)
