Safety Advisor III

Location: Sarnia, ON

Type: Contract - from August 2026 to December 2028

Schedule: Monday - Friday in the office

Rate: $70/h

About the Role

Brunel is currently recruiting for an experienced Safety Advisor III to support a major industrial construction project in Sarnia, Ontario. This is an excellent opportunity to join a large-scale project team and play a key role in driving safety excellence across construction and contractor activities.

The successful candidate will be a highly visible field presence, working closely with project teams, frontline supervisors, and contractors to ensure work is executed safely and in compliance with site safety requirements.

Responsibilities

- Provide day-to-day health and safety support to project leadership, supervisors, and contractors.
- Maintain a strong field presence by conducting inspections, observations, and safety audits.
- Monitor construction activities and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Support contractor safety management and assist with hazard identification, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.
- Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action development.
- Review job hazard analyses, protected work practices, and safety documentation.
- Deliver safety coaching and guidance to workers, supervisors, and contractor personnel.
- Develop, update, and support implementation of safety procedures and standards.
- Assist with safety meetings, toolbox talks, training initiatives, and safety communications.
- Support site emergency response activities as required.
- Monitor and report safety metrics, trends, and performance indicators.

Qualifications

- Minimum 5 years of construction or industrial safety experience required.




- 10+ years of safety experience preferred.
- Previous experience supporting large-scale industrial, oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical, energy, or heavy construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with contractors in active construction environments.
- Strong understanding of hazard identification, risk management, incident investigation, and safety compliance.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships and influence safe work practices at all levels.
- Experience conducting field audits, inspections, and safety observations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.
