Job Summary

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) will provide personal care services and assist clients with activities of daily living as outlined in each client’s care plan. The role is directed by the supervisor and follows all internal and external standards of practice.

Responsibilities

- Provide personal care in accordance with care plans, ensuring clients’ emotional, spiritual, physical comfort and safety.
- Perform tasks within the provincial scope of practice: skin care, hair/ mouth care, bathing, bowel/bladder care, positioning, movement, exercise, basic wound care, feeding with special diets, and medication reminders.
- Perform specialized client‑specific procedures when trained and competent.
- Document client conditions, report unusual events or changes to the supervisor or office.
- Implement infection prevention practices.




- Participate in continuing education as required.
- Adhere to Bayshore policies and procedures.
- Engage in quality improvement and health & safety activities, and report risks or concerns.
- Maintain client and company confidentiality.
- Complete other tasks as requested.

Skills & Abilities

- Fluent verbal and written communication in English or French.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; capable of working independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to stand, bend, squat, kneel, reach, and lift up to 23 kg.
- Capacity to travel locally between assignments.

Qualifications

Education

- Graduation from an accredited Personal Support Worker Program.
- Solid knowledge of community nursing principles and practices.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for commuting.

Experience

- At least one year of recent personal care experience in a similar role.

Reporting

- Reports to the Clinical Manager or appropriate supervisor.

Performance

- Demonstrated competency in all job duties and responsibilities.
- Performance reviewed during probation and annually thereafter.

Additional Requirements

New hires may need to provide proof of vaccination for COVID‑19, hepatitis, seasonal flu, and other illnesses, depending on provincial regulations. Medical exemptions will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
