Skipper and Crew for Salmon Food Fish Season

Wage: TBD The Kwakiutl Band requires 1 Skipper and 4 Crew Members to operate the Western Sunrise for the 2026 Salmon Food Fish Season.

- Previous experience in the Salmon Seine fishery is required
- To keep an accurate log of the day-to-day operations of the vessel and it’s fishing operations
- Is responsible for the safety of the crew and vessel
- Is required to always remain on board the vessel when fishing or traveling (even for a short trip to move vessel or fuel up vessel, skipper is required to be onboard for insurance purposes
- Agrees to instruct and ensure the crew members know the requirements and responsibilities aboard the vessel
- Complete inventories of the vessel’s equipment will be taken prior to departure and upon return




- Any loss of any items from the inventory will be the responsibility of the Skipper and the Crew and a payroll deduction to recover costs of missing items will be completed

Crew Member Requirements:

- Previous experience in the Salmon Seine fishery is required
- Have a valid Commercial Fishing License
- Must have Small Vessel Operators Proficiency, Restricted Operators Certificate – Maritime, Maritime Emergency Duties, A3 and Stability Education
- Must have own rain gear and rubber boots

Alcohol and Illicit Drugs are not permitted on the vessel. Abuse of this condition will result in dismissal.
