School Psychologist for the 2026-2027 School Year JobID: 8777 POSITION TITLE School Psychologist REPORTS TO Exceptional Children Director BEGINNING DATE Open Until Filled PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES - Facilitates learning and promotes the cognitive, social, functional, and personal development of all students - Identifies and assesses the learning, developmental, behavioral, functional, and mental health needs of students - Uses assessment data about the student and his/her environment(s) to develop appropriate interventions and programs - Assists in the planning, development, and evaluation of programs to support student growth and development - Provides consultation to parents, teachers, other school personnel, and community agencies to enhance the student growth and development - Delivers a planned and coordinated program of psychological services - Participates as active IEP team member and contributes to building capacity in school EC staff - Applies ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of school psychological services and observes relevant laws and policies that govern practice - Participates in professional organizations and continually seeks to improve professional knowledge and skills - Communicates effectively with students, parents,
and school staff - Keeps accurate records and adheres to timelines and standards EDUCATION AND TRAINING - Must hold or be eligible to obtain a North Carolina educator's license as a School Psychologist. TERM OF EMPLOYMENT 10 Months SALARY NC School Psychologist Salary Schedule FLSA STATUS Exempt PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for prolonged periods of time - Ability to reach with hands and arms routinely - Ability to bend, stoop, carry, push, or pull - Ability to carry furniture such as tables and chairs, supplies and materials - Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds routinely and 30 pounds occasionally - Must be able to facilitate the evacuation of students during emergency situations and/or drills - Must be able to visually and auditorily effectively communicate with staff and students - Must be able to drive to variety of sites - Must be able to tolerate a noisy, busy work setting with occasional very loud noises - Must be able to physically assist with the therapeutic/de-escalation process EEO STATEMENT Onslow County Schools does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age in its programs and activities.
