We are looking for a dedicated and strategic individual to help guide the development of new communities, ensuring they are built to the highest standards in a way that is both sustainable and environmentally conscious.Reporting to the Senior Development Engineer, the Development Engineer plays an integral role in coordinating the development and servicing of new land as well as infill developments between the City of Edmonton and the private development industry. This position is a key contact for the infill development sector, influencing many aspects of the land development process, from initial planning and engineering design to financial cost‑sharing and contract law.Come be a part of our team and help us build a vibrant, connected, and prosperous Edmonton for all.What will you do?Negotiate, prepare, and administer multi‑million dollar high‑profile infill servicing agreements with developers on behalf of the City and private utility companiesReview professional engineering drawings to ensure they comply with the conditions of subdivision approval and meet the City’s Design and Construction StandardsChair pre‑circulation meetings and mediate any conflicting requirements from various approval agencies to ensure drawings are suitable for circulationManage projects and submissions through online platforms like ePlan and eServicesOversee municipal infrastructure cost‑sharing, including understanding and applying development levies such as Arterial Roadway Assessments (ARAs)



and Permanent Area Contributions (PACs)Serve as a key point of contact, responding to inquiries about servicing, levies, and other land development requirements from developers, consultants, City Council, and the publicAdminister the review and final approval of Construction Completion Certificates (CCC) and Final Acceptance Certificates (FAC) for new developer‑built infrastructureCollaborate on process improvements and the negotiation of corporate policies with the land development industryPerform additional related duties as requiredQualifications:Degree in Civil or Environmental engineeringMust be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in good standing and registered with APEGA. Applicants in a different Canadian jurisdiction eligible for Inter‑Provincial Mobility (IPMA) with APEGA may be considered. Registration with APEGA must be obtained prior to commencement of employmentMinimum of 4 years progressively responsible experience in municipal engineering within the land development industrySkills required for success:Technical Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge of APEGA Guidelines, City’s Profession Practice Management Plan (PPMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Municipal Government Act, City Design and Construction Standards, and principles of contract lawCommunication and Analysis: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to analyze and interpret detailed engineering drawingsCollaboration and Management: Excellent skills in collaboration, problem‑solving, decision‑making, negotiation,
