Specification Writer – Architectural Hardware — We're looking for a Specification Writer to join our Architectural Hardware Specification team. In this role, you'll prepare door hardware specifications, complete product conversions, and analyze architectural plans and specifications to recommend the appropriate hardware solutions. You'll work closely with our sales team, architects, and customers to support a wide range of commercial construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Prepare door hardware schedules from architectural drawings and specifications
- Complete product conversions by identifying equivalent CANAROPA solutions
- Read and interpret architectural plans, specifications, and technical drawings
- Analyze project requirements and recommend appropriate door hardware
- Clarify technical requirements and provide practical solutions when needed
- Update hardware schedules as projects evolve
- Maintain accurate project documentation and records
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an architectural hardware supplier or similar setting
- Strong knowledge of architectural door hardware products
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and technical specifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience with ERP, CRM, and Adobe software is an asset
- Post-secondary education (DEC or higher), or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working toward or interested in obtaining the Architectural Hardware Consultant (AHC) designation is an asset
- Strong analytical skills, mechanical aptitude, organization, and attention to detail
