Processing billions of data points a day, Geotab leverages data analytics and machine learning to improve productivity, optimize fleets through the reduction of fuel consumption, enhance driver safety and achieve robust compliance to regulatory changes. Geotab is seeking a Senior Data Scientist who will explore and examine data from multiple sources in order to design and construct new data modeling processes using prototypes, algorithms, predictive models, and custom analyses. As a Senior Data Scientist your key area of responsibility will be designing, developing, and maintaining ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards to drive key business decisions, providing expert project leadership as a SME, and participating in cross-departmental projects establishing Geotab as a leader in data science.
You will need to work closely with internal technical teams and external stakeholders to gather requirements. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong project management skill and be able to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage projects through to completion.
Implement new statistical or mathematical methodologies for specific models of data analysis.
Identify new, complex queries from Big Data infrastructure from data warehousing database (i.e. Use machine learning (ML) packages (e.g. Scikit-learn and Tensorflow) to develop ML models and features. Test the performance of data-driven products and make recommendations for improving Geotab’s product suite.
Collaborate with internal technical teams and external stakeholders to gather requirements. Build production datasets and help customers solve business problems. Bachelors degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field (Masters degree is an asset). ~5 - 8 years of experience in a Data Scientist, Computer Vision Engineer, or ML Engineer role. ~ A solid grasp of fundamental computer vision concepts, with proven experience building and deploying computer vision or video analytics pipelines in production environments using Python. ~ Hands-on experience with Vision Language Models (VLMs), large multi-modal models, and optimizing deployment across both cloud-based inference infrastructure (e.g., Ray, Vertex AI, Azure) and edge processing environments. ~ Proficiency in writing SQL queries and working with large-scale data (BigQuery, Spark). ~ Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across product, platform, and data science teams. ~ Familiarity with 3D reconstruction and LiDAR technologies is considered a robust asset.
